Easy Baked Apples with Caramel Syrup

I love baked apples but every time I make them, all the good stuff drains to the bottom. And the apples aren’t always cooked soft enough. So I decided to try something different.

First, I cut the apples in half. They were easier to clean and much of the buttery sugar stayed on the top. Plus, the smaller total piece cooked faster and more evenly than a whole apple. What melted out mixed with the juices of the apple and made the absolute best caramel to drizzle on top! Other than baking, these babies took less than ten minutes to prepare!

Here’s How to Do it:

Wash the apples and cut in half .

Next clean out the core, leaving a well in the center. I used honeycrisp apples, but you can use your favorite apple. I like those sweeter apples for this. The tart apples might need a little more sugar.

Lay the halves, bottom down, in a baking pan big enough to hold all the apples.

Apples

Put 1/2 Tablespoon of brown sugar into the center well of each apple.

Drizzle 1 teaspoon of butter over each apple half.

Sprinkle with some cinnamon.

Preheat the oven to 350°, then place the apples in and bake for about an hour.

Spoon the caramel from the bottom of the pan to the over each apple half.

Place a couple of apple halves on a plate –

Serve with whipped cream (or ice cream) and top with more of the liquid gold from the bottom of the pan and enjoy!
