Egg in a Bun

In honor of the egg at Easter, here is a great, easy brunch or breakfast this is like cracking open the egg!

egg bun

Inside there is a flavor melding that is rich and satisfying…

What you need:

  • 4 round rolls, like Kaiser rolls
  • 16 slices of deli ham or turkey
  • 4 slices of sharp or extra sharp cheddar
  • 4 Tablespoons softened butter
  • 4 eggs

How to Do it:

Cut the top off of each roll and scoop out enough of the inside to create a bowl, but still keeping the roll stable.  Save the insides to toast and use as bread crumbs for another recipe.  20160310-IMG_5288

Using ½ Tablepsoon of butter for each roll, rub the inside of the roll.

Replace the top and place each roll on a baking sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes, until the eggs are set.  The yolk will not be runny.

Remove the rolls from the oven and rub with a little more butter while hot.
