Those long strips of fried potato become all American in this recipe that soaks them in bourbon first!
Cut the potatoes into strips lengthwise, about 3/8 inch thick.
Place the potatoes in a large bowl with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon McCormick's grill mates, Brown sugar and bourbon (nope, this isn't a sponsored post - I just love this stuff!!), 1-1/2 cups water and 1/2 cup bourbon. Let soak for about 2 hours.
Dry the fries on paper towels. While they are drying mix 1/2 cup flour with the remaining salt and grill mates along with a pinch of powdered malt vinegar (optional).
