Super easy recipe that uses frozen bread dough
Course: Breads
Cuisine: American
Servings: 1 loaf
Author: HelenFern
Ingredients
  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough I used Bridgford white bread
  • 1-1/2 cup shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh rosemary leaves finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup bread flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • butter to grease the bowl and pan
Instructions
  1. Rub some butter on the sides of a large bowl. Place the bread dough into the bowl. Cover with a damp towel and allow it to thaw and rise. This usually takes 2 to 3 hours.
  2. Place the rosemary and the butter in a glass dish and heat (I used the microwave) until the butter is melted.
  3. Once the dough is totally thawed and risen, punch it down.
  4. Next, add the cheese, butter, rosemary and flour. Begin mixing and kneading while it is still in the bowl. Once the ingredients begin to be incorporated, turn it out onto a board and gently knead, pushing and folding the cheese into the dough.
  5. Grease the inside of a loaf pan with butter.
  6. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in the pan. Cover with a damp towel and put in a warm place to rise, about 45 minutes to an hour, or until double in bulk.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees for about 20 minutes. Place the bread in a center rack and bake for about 30 to 40 minutes. The top will be golden brown and there will be a hollow sound when you thump the top of the loaf with your finger.
  8. Rub the top of the loaf with butter while it's still hot.
  9. Allow to cool a little bit before cutting.
  10. Cut, butter, enjoy!
