We love spicy foods. This dish is spicy and sweet dish. Add some rice and a side of salad or cool cucumbers and you’ll have a delicious and satisfying meal!
Are Spicy Foods Cooling?
Yes!! Eating spicy foods can cool you on a hot day. Spices like ginger, chili peppers and cayenne can make you sweat. When you sweat your body cools down.
If it’s a hot day, grill up something hot and spicy and see how fast you cool down. These skewers are perfect for this!
Making the Skewers –
Start with the marinade. The chicken needs to sit in it for at least 2 hours, even better if it’s three or four.
Put all the marinade ingredients into a glass dish and mix well. Make sure everything is well blended.
Open the thighs up and
slice them into long strips.
Push the strips down into the marinade until they are fully covered.
Cover the dish and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours.
Remove the chicken from the marinade and thread evenly onto skewers.
Heat the grill up to high. If you are using a grill pan, be sure to spray it with cooking oil. The sugars will burn on it.
Cook the chicken about 2 minutes on each side.
While it’s cooking, place the marinade and the remaining ingredients into a small saucepan.
Bring it to a boil and simmer, stirring often, until it’s thick and syrupy.
Brush it on both sides the chicken, then cook the meat another 2 or 3 minutes on each side.
Serve hot with rice and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onion.
