Sausage Pizza Burger

The weather has been so hot, neither of us have been particularly hungry or interested in cooking. And turn the oven on? Not a chance! But I’m craving some pizza!! Well, then I got an idea! A new take on a Pizza Burger [8]!

Here’s How to Make a Pizza Burger:

First, mix the olive oil with the garlic and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.

Make patties with bulk Italian sausage. We used sweet  – and make ’em thick! You can use hot Italian if you like the spicer pizza.

Next slice up the cheese, tomatoes, and other condiments. Brush the rolls with the garlic oil.

Grill the patties on medium heat.

About half way through, put the buns on the grill shelf and flip the patties.

About ten minutes before they are done, lay a couple slices of cheese on the top. Continue to grill for about five minutes.  If you want to add pepperoni, this is a good time to do it. It will sit in the melted cheese and have wonderfully crispy edges.

In the mean time, place the sauce in a skillet and bring it to a simmer. Put the cooked patties in and simmer together for about 3 to 5 minutes.

Build the burger by spreading each bun with some pizza sauce, top with the cheesed up patty, some arugula and any other topping that you think would be wonderful – like pepperoncinis, fresh tomato slices, olives and/or onions. Put the top on and take a bite!
