Fried Pickles – I tried this southern favorite for the first time and fell in love with the snack. After some experimentation, I came up with this really good recipe – that was eaten really fast! I’ll be doubling it next time! So in honor of National Pickle Appreciate day….
How to Do it:
Beat the egg with 1 Tablespoon of water.
Mix the spices, ¼ cup flour and cornmeal well.
Slice the pickles into thick slices. Dust with the 2 Tablespoons of flour.
Dip into the egg mixture, then coat with the seasoned flour.
Carefully place each slice into the fryer basket without over crowding.
Plain old “vegetable oil” is the best for deep frying – neutral flavor and inexpensive!
Fry each slice until golden brown.
To make the dip, mix the ranch with the horseradish.
Makes enough appetizers for four people.
