Bagel Pizzas

It’s National Pizza Day AND National Bagel Day!  I tried making homemade bagels once, but that is not a project for a lazy gastronome!  Make the dough, boil  the dough, brush the dough, bake the dough -YIKES!!  So what does a Lazy Gastronome make for National Pizza and National Bagel day?  How about….

It's National Pizza Day AND National Bagel Day! I tried making homemade bagels once, but that is not a project for a lazy gastronome! Make the dough, boil the dough, brush the dough, bake the dough -YIKES!! So what does a Lazy Gastronome make for National Pizza and National Bagel day? How about....

It’s easy to make and everyone will love it!

What you need:

How to Do it:

Crush one clove of garlic into the olive oil.  Let it sit for a few minutes.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Place the tomatoes, the last clove of garlic, oregano, basil, and parmesan cheese into a blender and puree until it is all well chopped and blended.  Pour the mixture into a small sauce pan and simmer until it is reduced and thickened.

Cut the bagels in half

and toast them (I used the toaster)

Place the toasted bagels on a baking sheet and brush liberally with the olive oil.

Cover the top of each bagel with the tomato sauce, then the cheese.

Top the cheese with the onion and meat (or any topping you want!).

Bake the pizzas for about 15 – 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the meat begins to crisp on the edges.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes – serve with a salad.

Makes 4 personal pizzas
